Twitter will livestream coverage of the Republican and Democratic conventions from CBS News’ CBSN — continuing a collaboration that began during the presidential debates — the companies say this morning.
The agreement will give Twitter gavel-to-gavel video of the events, accompanied by live Tweets about the proceedings. CBSN’s Josh Elliott, Elaine Quijano and Vladimir Duthiers will handle the anchoring and reporting duties.
“CBS News will have the highest quality original reporting continuously throughout both conventions—we are very pleased that reporting will be so prominently featured on Twitter’s live platform,” says CBS News President David Rhodes.
The companies had a similar collaboration at the November 14 Democratic presidential debate, and a Republican one on February 13. CBS included real time metrics, curated Tweets and questions that voters had Tweeted.
“By bringing the live discussion of the Republican and Democratic national conventions together with CBSN’s live video stream of the proceedings, we believe we’re giving people around the world the best way to experience democracy in action,” Twitter CFO Anthony Noto says.
