Star (Fox)

After a nationwide search, actress/singer/songwriter Demorest, from Detroit, MI, landed the title role in the Fox pilot Star, which was picked up to series and set to launch Jan. 4 in Empire‘s Wednesday 9 PM slot. Star, created/executive produced by Daniels and Donaghy, follows three young women, who form a girl group with hopes of making it big in the music industry. Demorest plays the lead singer, Star, a tough 18-year-old who spent her childhood in and out of foster homes after the death of her mother, and who will do anything to become the star she was named to be. Co-starring in the series are Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, and Lenny Kravitz.

On the music front, Demorest co-wrote Fifth Harmony’s hit song Work From Home.

Demorest, who was previously at a boutique talent agency for emerging talent, continues to be managed by Gilbertson Entertainment. Her attorney is Kenny Meiselas.
