CBS’ summer reality staple Big Brother (1.8/7 rating in the 18-49 demo, 6.04 million total viewers) was Thursday’s top-rated show and helped the network win the night again in both the demo an total viewers. CBS’ win was helped by primetime’s most-watched show — a Big Bang Theory rerun (1.4/6, 7.23 million viewers) at 8 PM.
Big Brother, in the third week of its 18th cycle, was second in total viewers on the night, and it was even in the demo with last week. It won the 9 PM hour against a slew of fellow originals, with Week 2 of ABC’s Greatest Hits (1.0/4, 3.66M) dipping from its debut to finish second, followed by NBC’s Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge (0.9/3, 3.22M, down a tenth), and Fox’s Home Free (0.5/2, 1.94M) and the CW’s Beauty And The Beast (0.2/1, 810,ooo), both even with last week.

Also on NBC, a new Aquarius (0.5/2, 1.9 million viewers) at 10 PM ticked up a tenth to season high in the demo for its best results since last June, when it aired on Saturday nights. It was the only original in the hour. A NBC West Coast stations carried news coverage of the cop shooting in Dallas in the 10 PM hour including KNBC in L.A., the country’s second largest TV market.
ABC’s BattleBots (0.9/4, 3.5M) at 8 PM was the only other original in broadcast primetime last night, even in its third week.
