“Are you dating Luke?” “Eww, no. I’m dating my daughters.” After releasing a slew of promos for Better Things — including a Game of Thrones-themed one — FX has unwrapped with first official trailer for its upcoming comedy starring Pamela Adlon. The actress and comic created the show with her buddy Louis C.K., having played his love on-again/off-again love interest on the cable net’s Louie, which is on indefinite hiatus.
Adlon stars in the new series as Sam Fox, a put-upon single mom trying to keep it together as routine and minutiae attempt to break her spirit. She’s a working actor juggling work with raising three girls (Mikey Madison, Hannah Alligood, Olivia Edward) in Los Angeles. Her English expat mother (Celia Imrie) lives across the street. Amid the chaos, Sam tries to hang with a friend now and then and maybe even squeeze in a little “me time.”
Adlon is executive producing Better Things alongside Louis C.K., Blair Breard, Dave Becky and 3 Arts Entertainment. Better Things is produced by C.K.’s production company Pig Newton for FX Productions. FX premieres the series September 8. Get a look at the trailer and tell us what you think.
