NBC’s summer variety series Maya & Marty on Tuesday will air the first nonstudio performance of “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” the new single benefiting the Orlando LGBT community that dropped its music video today. The new take on the updated Burt Bacharach-Hal David staple features about 60 Broadway stars, who recorded the song last week for the Broadway for Orlando initiative.
Scheduled to appear on the telecast hosted by Maya Rudolph and Martin Short are Roger Bart, Andrea Burns, Tituss Burgess, Charles Busch, Ann Hampton Callaway, Paul Castree, Michael Cerveris, Kevin Chamberlin, Lilla Crawford, Cynthia Erivo, Victor Garber, Ana Gasteyer, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Frankie James Grande, Whoopi Goldberg, Joel Grey, Sean Hayes, Joshua Henry, Megan Hilty, James Monroe Iglehart, Judy Kuhn, Jose Llana, Anika Larsen, Beth Malone, Andrea Martin, Janet Metz, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jessie Mueller, Kelli O’Hara, Rory O’Malle, Orfeh, Christine Pedi, Rosie Perez, Billy Porter, Alice Ripley, Chita Rivera, Keala Settle, Kate Shindle, Jennifer Simard, James Wesley, Juli Wesley, Lillias White, Marissa Jaret Winokur and B.D.
