EXCLUSIVE: Jim Mickle has been set to direct Sylvester Stallone in an untitled thriller for STX Entertainment. Daniel Casey wrote the script, one that had previously been known as Godforsaken. That title will be changed. This is the mystery picture that Stallone boasted about during STX’s presentation at CinemaCon, though at the time all were tight lipped about what the Oscar-nominated Creed star would be making for upstart STX. Lawrence Grey will produce through his Grey Matter banner.
Stallone will play an aging ex-con with more regrets than memories. Upon hearing about his son’s death his solitude is quickly broken as he must now protect the only family he has left and avenge a son he hardly knew. Ben Everard is overseeing for Grey Matter and exec producing with Noah Rosen. Mickle, who helmed Cold in July and is working on an adaptation of The Esperanza Fire at Legendary, is repped by WME, Jeremy Platt and attorney Sean Marks. Stallone is WME. Casey is repped by Writ Large and CAA and Hansen Jacobson.
