NBC News’ Peacock Productions division has signed a deal with Denise Brown, sister of the late Nicole Brown Simpson, to develop an unscripted true-crime series.
Denise, of course is the former sister-in-law of O.J. Simpson, the former NFL star and NBC Sports commentator who was charged with the 1994 murder of his former wife and her friend Ron Goldman. Simpson was tried, and acquitted in a criminal trial.
Peacock Productions notes that Brown testified for the prosecution in that trial and, since 1995, has traveled the country speaking about domestic violence, while working to help pass legislation to protect victims of domestic violence. She addressed the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee about increased funding for the Violence Against Women Act.

“Denise has experienced first-hand the complexities of the criminal justice system,” Peacock Productions’ VP development Melody Shafir said in today’s announcement. Brown was played by Jordana Brewster in FX’s American Crime Story: The People V O.J. Simpson.
Peacock Productions’ credits include Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon, ID network’s Disappeared, NBC’s special on its making of the live musical production The Wiz, and, in 2013, produced Skywire Live for Discovery Channel, documenting Nik Wallenda’s crossing of the Little Colorado River gorge near Grand Canyon National Park.
