Released in January, PBS’ period medical drama Mercy Street entered into an immensely crowded landscape of top-notch television dramas, engendering its own following and critical praise in spite of it all. From executive producers Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Lisa Q. Wolfinger and David Zabel, the true-to-life series—set in 1862 Virginia—centers on the professional horrors and personal challenges faced by two nurses on opposite sides of the Civil War.
Above, in a video exclusive, cast members Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Josh Radnor heap praise on the show’s department heads and craftsmen, who explain the challenges of bringing the Civil War medical drama to the small screen.
