Univision’s KMEX and NBC4 led the field with 19 nominations apiece as the 68th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards noms were unveiled this morning. KTLA5 and Telemundo’s KVEA followed among stations with 10 mentions, followed by Time Warner Cable SportsNet L.A. with nine and ABC7 and PBS SoCal with eight.
Among the 143 nominations in 43 categories is the Live Coverage of an Unscheduled News Event, which nommed CBS2 for the Paris terror attacks and KVEA and NBC4 for the San Bernardino shootings. The Outstanding Hard News Reporting category included Joel Grover and producer Matthew Glasser (NBC4), reporter Robert Kovacik (NBC4), reporter Paul Magers and producer Denise L. Poon (CBS2/KCAL9), reporter Jenna Susko (NBC4) and reporter Antonio Valverde (KMEX).
The Emmys will be presented July 23 from the Wolf Theater at the TV Academy’s new Saban Media Center which was christened last week.
