HBO has dropped the first trailer for Issa Rae’s new comedy series Insecure.
Co-created and co-written by Rae and Larry Wilmore and starring Rae, the eight-episode series looks at the friendship of two black women and their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations. Rae also executive produces and Melina Matsoukas directs. Prentice Penny (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) is showrunner.
Insecure features themes Rae tackled in her successful webseries, The Misadventures Of Awkward Black Girl, which won a Shorty Award. Rae’s online content has garnered over 20 million views and nearly 200,000 YouTube subscribers.
