Some key original cast members from Ghostbusters — Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts — were on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to talk about filming the 1984 film on the streets in New York and how director-producer Ivan Reitman stole shots. They also dropped some anecdotes about the famed Ecto-1, the Cadillac ambulance/hearse on which the gang relied and has its origin story in the new Ghostbusters. The revamped film, directed by Paul Feig, will be released on July 15 from Sony.
The original cast members — sans Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver (and the late great Harold Ramis) — later were joined by newbies Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones to talk about the upcoming Ghostbusters, which Murray said they joined onto because they “knew these girls were funny.” The visit ended with both casts all dancing to the Ghostbusters theme song.
