Bleecker Street will open Mick Jackson’s Denial on September 30.
Denial follows Deborah E. Lipstadt’s (Rachel Weisz) legal crusade for historical truth against David Irving (Timothy Spall), who accused her of libel when she declared him a Holocaust denier. I’ve heard great things about this one for awards season. Pic is based on Lipstadt’s non-fiction work History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier. Pic also stars Tom Wilkinson.
Denial was adapted for the screen by The Reader scribe David Hare. Producers are Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff. Participant Media’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King, BBC Films’ Christine Langan and Joe Oppenheimer, Bleecker Street’s Andrew Karpen, and Shoebox Films Guy Heeley are EPs.
Bleecker Street has the Matt Ross feature Captain Fantastic, which took Sundance and Cannes by storm, opening on July 8 as well as the Sean Ellis-directed Anthropoid on August 12.
