
The 2016 CMT Music Awards nabbed 3.3M Live+Same Day viewers across CMT, TV Land and Nick@Nite, from 8-10:30 PM last night. That’s a 21% jump compared to last year’s trophy show, which had been simulcast on CMT and TV Land.
Immediately after the music awards show, The early premiere of Still The King clocked more than 2.2 million viewers across the same three networks, marking CMT’s highest rated original series opening. The premiere logged a o.97 rating in the 18-49 demo. The series, which features Billy Ray Cyrus in its ensemble cast, officially premieres on Sunday, June 12 at 9pm ET/PT with back-to-back episode premieres.
This year’s CMT Awards, hosted by Erin Andrews and J.J. Watt, saw Carrie Underwood win the trophy for Female Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year. Tim McGraw took the win for Video of the Year, Blake Shelton was crowned CMT #SocialSuperstar, Chris Stapleton nabbed Breakthrough Video of the Year, Little Big Town scored the win for Group/Duo Video of the Year, and Thomas Rhett snagged the Male Video of the Year win.
