Universal has delivered another trailer for upcoming threequel, Bridget Jones’s Baby. The domestic and UK due date has been set as September 16 on the Renée Zellweger-starrer. Sharon Maguire, who helmed the 2001 franchise starter Bridget Jones’s Diary, directs the latest installment.
The story is set after Bridget has broken up with Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). As she focuses on her job and friends, her love life takes a turn when she meets a dashing American named Jack (Patrick Dempsey). But when she finds herself pregnant, she can’t be sure who the father is. Emma Thompson also stars this time around, as the confused OBGYN, along with Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones.
The film was touted last week by not one but two studios during the CineEurope convention in Barcelona. StudioCanal tubthumped it during its session, followed by Universal a day later. There was also a Bridgetfest 2016, replete with Pimm’s Cups and cupcakes.
Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films produce alongside Debra Hayward. Universal is distributing in North America and select international territories. Check out the new trailer, and tell us what you think.
