The world’s most self centered and perhaps stupidest ex-spy and now P.I. is coming back for not just an eighth season but a ninth and tenth as well, FX announced today about Archer. Season 8 of the animated series from EPs Adam Reed and Matt Thompson will debut with an eight-episode run in 2017, the cabler added. Seasons 9 and 10 will also run for eight-episodes. No word if it will be the end of Archer at the end of the tenth season.
“We can’t say enough about what Adam, Matt and the entire Archer team at Floyd County have done to keep this series so insanely funny and vital through seven seasons,” FX co-President of Original Programming Nick Grad did say Tuesday. “The move to Los Angeles this past season as private detectives was just the latest twist in Archer’s legendary exploits and the next three seasons will to be just as amazing and unpredictable. We are thrilled to continue making great TV with our friends and colleagues at Floyd County.”
Today’s pick-up is one season more than when FX last renewed the H. Jon Benjamin and Aisha Tyler voice-led series back in 2014. On that occasion, the Reed and Floyd County Productions created Emmy winning comedy was given a sixth and a seventh season.
As well as Benjamin as Sterling Archer himself and Tyler as his fellow detective and sometimes lady love Lana Kane, Archer features the voices of Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell, Judy Greer, Amber Nash, Lucky Yates and EP Reed.
Having first debuted on September 17, 2009, Comic-Con fave Archer wrapped up Season 7 on June 2 this year.
