The Orchard has picked up North American rights to Oscar nominee Oren Moverman’s forthcoming film The Dinner and is planing a fall release. Moverman is in post on the film. He adapted the screenplay from Herman Koch’s novel. The Dinner tells the tale of two families struggling to make the hardest decisions of their lives during the course of one meal. The pic explores just how far parents will go to protect their children.
Richard Gere leads an all-star cast that includes Steve Coogan, Laura Linney, Rebecca Hall, Chloë Sevigny and Adepero Oduye. The Dinner is produced by Cotty Chubb, Lawrence Inglee, Eddie Vaisman and Julia Lebedev. Executive producers are Leonid Lebedev, Angel Lopez, Olga Segura and Eva Daniels.

“The Dinner represents an amazing opportunity for us to not only work with and develop a new relationship with Oren, a truly gifted writer-director, but also to forge new partnerships with the teams at Code Red, ChubbCo and Blackbird,” Paul Davidson, the Orchard’s EVP Film and Television, said in a statement.
The deal was negotiated by WME Global and CAA on behalf of the filmmakers. Back in March, Protagonist Pictures reported that The Dinner was one of the strongest titles on its EFM slate.
