Trollhunter helmer André Øvredal will direct Mortal for Nordisk, 42 and Automatik, with Robert Sheehan starring. IM Global is launching sales in Cannes. Øvredal, who has The Autopsy of Jane Doe in the pipeline, conceived the story, a fantasy adventure origins plot about a young man discovering he has god-like powers based on ancient Norwegian mythology.
“My goal is to again bring the amazing Norwegian mythology out to a worldwide audience, this time through a modern, action-oriented character journey,” said Øvredal.
Production is slated to take place this summer in Norway with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik, Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken of 42, and John Einar Hagen of Nordisk Film Production producing. Michael Roban, Henrik Zein, Aage Aaberge, Aron Coleite, André Øvredal and Josh Horsfield will exec produce. Nordisk Film and Ingenious Media are backing and Nordisk Film also will distribute in Nordic countries with IM Global handling international sales.
Sheehan (Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones) can next be seen in Dean Devlin’s Geostorm for Warner Bros.
IM Global previously worked with both Automatik and 42 on Eran Creevy’s Collide and with Kavanaugh-Jones on the Sinister, A Haunted House and Insidious pics and with 42 on Øvredal’s Autopsy of Jane Doe.
Øvredal is repped by WME, Industry Entertainment and Hansen Jacobson. Sheehan is repped by Gersh, Lisa Richards Agency in the UK and Felker Toczek.
