A healed-up Stephen Curry was back in top form last night to help the Golden State Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers in overtime in Game 4 of the NBA playoffs on TNT, following the Miami Heat’s overtime victory over the Toronto Raptors in the East. We mention this to you non-basketball fans because the games may have pulled a bit of ratings action off the Big 4 on what was a fairly steady night in Monday’s primetime.
It wasn’t fairly steady though for CBS’ Mike & Molly and Person Of Interest (1.0/4), which debuted in its regular Monday slot last night. For the soon-to-end comedy, a double dose proved ratings juice among adults 18-49: The 8 PM episode (1.6/6) rose 23% in the key demo from last week, while the 8:30 PM episode (1.7/6) was up 21%. Behind an even The Voice (2.1/7) and a Dancing With The Stars (1.7/6) that was a down a tenth, the 8:30 PM Mike & Molly was the night’s third-highest-rated show. It also matched a season demo high and, with 7.94 million watching, was the biggest audience the comedy has had during its sixth and final season that comes to an end next week.
Having premiered its 13-episode fifth and final season on May 3 — a Tuesday — Person Of Interest moved into its regular 10 PM slot last night. It was, to put it mildly, not a smooth move demo-wise. With a new and even The Odd Couple (1.3/4) as a lead-in instead of the more sturdy NCIS: New Orleans, the crime drama took a 16% stumble to a demo low in early numbers.
With 10 PM slot winner Blindspot (1.4/5) rising a tenth from its May 2 episode, NBC won the night in the demo with a 1.9/6 rating, up 6% from last week. As the penultimate Castle (1.1/4) rose a tenth too in the demo, ABC took the top spot among viewers thanks to the 11.18 million tuning in for DWTS. Castle also had a good night viewership-wise with a season-best 6.9 million watching.
Fox’s Gotham (1.2/4) was even with last week, while newbie Houdini & Doyle (0.6/2) was down a tenth in its second week. Reign (0.3/1) and Jane The Virgin (0.3/1) were also even with their May 2 episodes.
