Eric Nenninger (Malcolm in the Middle) and Wilfred alumna Fiona Gubelmann have booked recurring roles opposite Justina Machado and Rita Moreno in One Day At A Time, Netflix’s remake of Norman Lear’s classic sitcom.
The 13-episode multi-camera comedy, written by Gloria Calderon Kellett and Mike Royce, revolves around a Cuban-American family, centering on a recently separated former military mom who is navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenaged daughter and socially adept tween son, with the “help” of her old school Cuban-born mom and a friends-without-benefits building manager named Schneider.
Nenninger will play Scott, who works as a nurse alongside Penelope (Machado). She often loses patience with his know-it-all attitude. Gubelmann is Lori, who works at Dr. Berkowitz’s office as a receptionist. She is annoyingly happily married and has dogs that she refers to as her children.
Nenninger, repped by Haven Entertainment and Pakula/King & Associates, was a series regular on Malcolm in the Middle, most recently appeared on Rosewood and Criminal Minds and played Warner on Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. Gubelmann, repped by Haven Entertainment, Gersh and Morris Yorn, played Jenna Mueller on Wilfred and most recently appeared on Telenovela and Castle.
