Shondaland will relinquish its stranglehold on ABC’s TGIT, for the fall anyway. New Notorious, inspired by the relationship of celebrity criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and longtime Larry King Live cable news producer Wendy Walker, fills in for Scandal at 9 PM during Scandal star Kerry Washington’s pregnancy.
Meanwhile, ABC is expanding its Tuesday comedy block to two hours in the fall which, added to Wednesday’s two hours and Friday’s one, maintain’s ABC’s status as the broadcast network with the biggest comedy footprint in the fall – five hours, compared to the 3.5 hours Fox announced during its Beacon Theatre Upfront presentation yesterday and the one hour that former broadcast king of comedy NBC announced at the NBCU Radio City Music Hall Upfront palooza.
Recently-named ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey is making her debut, Upfront presentation-wise, today at Lincoln Center’s recently renamed David Geffen Hall. But she’ll be joined by Upfront veteran Jimmy Kimmel, back for another of his his much-loved ABC Upfront Presentation seventh-inning stretch skewerings of practically everyone.
