UPDATED with Stana Katic tweet: It’s difficult to find a better word to describe today than ‘bloodbath’ as the television networks – particularly ABC and Fox – cleaned house extensively in advance of next week’s upfronts presentations. At Fox, Grinder, Grandfathered, Bordertown, and Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life ended up on the chopping block. Over at ABC it was Galavant, The Muppets, Agent Carter, Nashville and, after a month of serious behind-the-scenes drama, Castle. And meanwhile over at CBS, the CSI franchise came to an end with the cancellation of CSI Cyber. Not all them came as a shock considering their ratings of course, but nonetheless the number of cancellations did take viewers and even some professional observers by surprise.

(See Katic’s letter to fans, cast and crew below). Some were heartbroken, others grateful and, perhaps, willing to acknowledge the feeling that things had run their course, still others making good natured jokes as they paid tribute to their former jobs. Here’s a sample of what went down in the hours after the cancellations were announced.
