UTA has hired Maker Studios executive Sam Wick as an exec in its Digital Media department, where the industry veteran will focus on building new businesses for the agency’s client roster. At Disney-owned Maker, he was EVP and GM, Enterprise, overseeing enterprise P&L, corporate and business development, and strategic partnerships at the short-form studio, the largest content network on YouTube. Before that he had stints at MySpace, AOL, Mp3.com and Sony.
He is expected to mesh well with UTA’s focus on entrepreneurialism. The agency helped launch including AwesomenessTV with client Brian Robbins; publishing imprint Keywords Press formed by UTA and Simon & Schuster’s Atria publishing group; and social-media based movie tracker PreAct in partnership with comScore.
