Heading into the Wednesday-Thursday series finale, Fox’s American Idol has scored one last ratings win over a competitor, with an Idol retrospective (1.4 fast national rating in adults 18-49) edging a The Voice clip show (1.3) on Tuesday.
With no Voice original, CBS’ veteran NCIS (2.0 in 18-49, even with last week, 15.4 million) dominated the night in the demo and total viewers, helping CBS edge NBC for the nightly win in the demo (1.6 vs. 1.5). CBS won in total viewers by a wide margin.
CBS’ NCIS: New Orleans (1.7) slipped a tenth from its most recent episode, while freshman Limitless (1.1), which is still awaiting a renewal decision, was down two tenths to tie a Live+Same Day series low.

With the Voice clip show as a lead-in, NBC’s Chicago Med (1.5) slipped 16% from last week. Chicago Fire (1.6) was off by a tenth. Meanwhile, the 90-minute Idol special boosted Fox’s Tuesday average and helped Brooklyn Nine-Nine (0.9) tick up a tenth from last week.
Encouraging news for new ABC comedy The Real O’Neals (1.0). While not a breakout hit, it has been steady. The family comedy held its rating from last week despite its lead-in, Fresh Off The Boat (1.1), slipping by a tenth. Also off by a tenth and tying a series low was ABC’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (0.9).
Following a Flash rerun, iZombie (0.4) slipped a tenth to series lows.
