With a “tada!” and a smile, director Lilly Wachowski made her first public appearance as a woman last night at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles – and Logo is having its own “tada” moment with this sneak peek of tomorrow night’s taped telecast. Wachowski, creator of Netflix’s Sense8 and accepting the GLAAD Award for Outstanding Drama Series, spoke with humor and insight about her transition and the transgender community.
“Love is a crucial thing for transgender people,” Wachowski said. “It’s a tether. While creativity can soar beyond our seemingly immutable biological gender designations, when faced with a rather simple proposition of whether or not we are lovable, our imagination falters.”

The GLAAD Media Awards air on Logo Monday at 10 pm.
