In the thriller Lavender, Abbie Cornish stars as Jane, a photographer left with a seriously impaired memory following a car accident — which might not be such a bad thing if those pesky hallucinations she’s been having are any indication of what really went down. “A drama in the realm of a ghost movie,” is how Cornish described the film when she, along with Lavender director Ed Gass-Donnelly, stopped by Deadline’s Tribeca Studio at the Tribeca Film Festival. Gass-Donnelly said he’d been developing the script when Cornish came aboard “and my world was complete.”
The film follows Cornish’s Jane as she and her husband (Blacklist‘s Diego Klattenhoff) and daughter return to Jane’s childhood home and estranged uncle (Dermot Mulroney). There, Jane confronts a mysterious lurking force. Based on the clip above, that lurking force would have us thinking about The Shining‘s ghost girls and deadly maze, and running very, very fast in the opposite direction. Lavender plays tonight at 10:30 PM at the Regal Cinemas Battery Park. Take a look.
