EXCLUSIVE: Once Upon A Time star Jennifer Morrison has launched her own production banner, Apartment 3C Productions, and will kick things off with her feature film directorial debut in Sun Dogs, a comedy penned by Warrior scribe Anthony Tambakis.
The pic follows a young misfit with three failed attempts to join the Marines under his belt. Taking a Marine officer’s advice to “protect the homefront” a little too seriously, he sets his sights on a casino manager who may or may not be a terrorist mastermind, and enlists the help of young runaway, forming the most unlikely possible anti-terroroism unit in a story of love, friendship and homeland security. Casting on the film is underway ahead of a planned summer start date. UTA Independent Film Group is arranging financing and repping worldwide rights.
'This Is Us' Adds Jennifer Morrison In Recurring Role
Sun Dogs will be the first of two projects Morrison and Tambakis will co-develop under the Apartment 3C shingle. The pair first worked together on Warrior, which Tambakis wrote and Morrison starred in alongside Joel Edgerton and Tom Hardy. Tambakis also wrote the script for American Express, the new film starring Charlize Theron and Edgerton and directed by Nash Edgerton.
“Apartment 3C productions was created with the vision of utilizing the experience I have harnessed from working alongside talented directors and visionaries for the last 20 years and crafting my own voice as a storyteller across all mediums,” said Morrison. “My desire is to build a trusted team of actors, writers, directors, and artists who desire to work and create together in different capacities in order to flourish artistically in a variety of genres.”
Morrison will co-produce Sun Dogs with her frequent collaborator Andrew Carlberg. The duo worked together on Neil LaBute’s Some Girl(s) in 2014, and again on Morrison’s short film Warning Labels, which premiered at Tribeca 2015. Morrison and Carlberg also directed and produced a series of music videos for the band Wild Horses, as well as a series of plays alongside Phantom Owl Productions that were performed at the 2015 Edinburgh Film Festival.
Carlbergʼs other credits include Broadway revivals of Romeo And Juliet (starring Orlando Bloom) and Side Show directed by Bill Condon. He’s repped by lawyer Joel VanderKloot at Nelson Davis.
Morrison plays Emma Swan on ABC’s Once Upon A Time, and her credits include playing Dr. Allison Cameron on Fox’s House. She’s repped by UTA, John Carrabino and attorney Rick Genow.
Tambakis is repped by CAA.
