Described as Thomas the Tank Engine or Theodore the Tugboat for adults, Happy City follows a young taxi named Tyler and his millennial friends (a firetruck and a helicopter) as they navigate their way through life in the big city. The world of the series will be reminiscent of the model-based visual style of children’s shows such as Thomas the Tank Engine, using models with animated faces to comedically explore adult themes such as broken relationships, workplace struggles, and existential crises.
A comedy group based out of Los Angeles, Extremely Decent — whose members include Nick Smith, Jon Eidson, Ian McQuown, Mikey Caro, and Brendan Rice — are known for their sketches and music videos on YouTube and comedy websites that got them on the radar of The Lonely Island and then Dan Harmon and Starburns. (Watch their viral First Honest Cable Company video, which has garnered 5.5 million views on YouTube.)
Happy City was created by Eidson & Smith who will write the script and will executive produce along with Starburns and Sean Elliott at Authentic Management.
Extremely Decent is repped by UTA, Sean Elliott at Authentic, and PJ Shapiro of Ziffren Brittenham.
