OWN’s new original series Greenleaf is having its world premiere this afternoon at the Tribeca Film Festival, but here’s an exclusive first-look clip to whet appetites for the Craig Wright-created drama about a family behind a Memphis megachurch with equally big secrets to hide.
The cast is loaded, with Merle Dandridge playing the estranged preacher daughter who returns to home to her parents (Keith David and Lynn Whitfield) and leaders of the church after 20 years on the occasion of the mysterious death of her sister. She is thrown back into the world of the Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, and it soon becomes clear that things are not as virtuous as they seem. Oprah Winfrey has a recurring role in the series, marking her return to scripted TV. Wright executive produces with Winfrey and Clement Virgo who also directs.
