Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has joined the cast of Paramount’s Baywatch. He will hit the beach alongside Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario and Priyanka Chopra in the feature rendition of the 1990s hit TV show. The film follows a former Olympian who butts heads with the leader of an elite team of lifeguards. Abdul-Mateen plays Ellerbee, a cool cop who is constantly reminding Mitch (Johnson) that he has no real authority over the bay. Repped by Gersh and Anonymous Content, he co-stars on the Baz Luhrmann’s hip-hop drama The Get Down, which will stream on Netflix starting August 12.
Jacob Latimore has been cast in New Line/Village Roadshow’s Collateral Beauty, which follows a successful New York ad exec (Will Smith) who undergoes a personal tragedy causing him retreat from life entirely. Edward Norton, Keira Knightley, Naomie Harris, Michael Peña, Kate Winslet and Helen Mirren also star. Latimore’s character details are under wraps. Repped by CAA and Jeremy Geffen of Geffen Management Group, he starred in Sleight, which premiered at Sundance and was picked up by WWE Studios and Blumhouse Productions. Other credits include The Maze Runner, Ride Along and Black Nativity.
