Vince Curatola has joined the cast of Patriots Day, the CBS Films and Lionsgate pic about the events surrounding the Boston Marathon bombing. The Sopranos alum will play Thomas Menino, the popular longtime mayor of Boston. Menino was in his fifth term and 20th year in office when terrorists attacked the annual event in April 2013.
Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons and Jimmy O. Yang also star in the film. Peter Berg is directing from a script from Oscar-nominated Bridge of Spies co-writer Matt Charman.
Curatola played New York mobster John “Johnny Sack” Sacrimoni on The Sopranos, and his recent credits include Law & Order: SVU, The Good Wife and Killing Them Softly. He is repped by Stone Manners Salners Agency, McGowan Management and Kraditor & Haber.

Scott Stuber, Wahlberg, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Radutzky are producing. Radutzky is the 60 Minutes senior producer who leads the newsmag’s creative development unit, 60 Minutes Productions. The movie will benefit from the research done for the memorable segment that the newsmagazine generated right after the bombing. CBS Films is handling production and advertising for the film, which is the first project it has done with 60 Minutes. Lionsgate opens the film December 21.
