Writers Noelle Valdivia & Corinne Kingsbury and Brillstein Entertainment Partners have sold a half-hour comedy about the afterlife to TV Land. The project, tentatively titled Elsewhere, centers on a successful but shallow woman who, after dying in a car accident, realizes she prioritized all the wrong things in her life. Now, she has a second chance to achieve enlightenment against all odds — in purgatory.
Valdivia (Ash vs. Evil Dead, Manhattan, Masters of Sex) and Kingsbury (The Newsroom) are longtime friends who usually work solo but teamed for this one. BEP’s Robin Schwartz is executive producing.
TV Land recently ordered a pilot script for Heathers, a dark comedy anthology series based on the cult 1988 film and set in the present day. At its upfront presentation earlier this month, the network announced pilot pickups for a remake of the 1996 feature The First Wives Club and a 1970s Kyle Richards project inspired by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star’s real-life upbringing. They join previously ordered pilot Nobodies, a single-camera comedy executive produced by Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone.
Valdivia is repped by UTA and The Shuman Co., Kingsbury by WME and Hansen Jacobson. BEP also repped by UTA.
