It’s Super Tuesday, and Fusion has corralled two major candidates for a head-to-head tussle — well, sort of. The millennial-targeted media company hopes to Make America Great Again and Fix Its Rigged Economy with Trump Vs. Bernie, a new cross-platform video series that will see a pair of impressionists playing the GOP front-runner and Democratic No. 2 as they square off over the issues.
It this corner, weighing in at billions of dollars and just as many bloated promises, it’s Donald Trump (Anthony Atamanuik). And his opponent, tipping the scales at thousands of $27 donations and liberal fantasies of free college: Sen. Bernie Sanders (James Adomian). Trump Vs. Bernie will follow the actors as they go out campaigning in character. The first installment will start live streaming tonight at 8 PT on the F-Comedy Facebook page as the candidates digest the Super Tuesday results from the hotel room they’ve wound up sharing. Future installments will air across Fusion’s OTT platforms, social media outlets and FComedy.com.
Two TV specials also are planned: a one-hour sketch show in the spring featuring the greatest moments from their campaign tour and a second primetime broadcast featuring a debate between the two candidates.
“James and Anthony are two of the most brilliant satirists we’ve seen,” said Bryan Carmel, Head of Comedy and VP Development at Fusion. “Through their outrageous takes on Trump and Sanders, they’re holding a mirror up to an election that is shaping up to be the biggest circus yet.”
