Freeform has picked up Shadowhunters for a second season. The news was revealed by the cast today in a Facebook Q&A.
Undoubtedly helped by lead-in, the channel’s top-rated series Pretty Little Liars, the January Shadowhunters premiere was the top debut the channel has had in two years. It held on to 71% of the 18-49 demo from its PLL lead-in.
Based on Cassandra Clare’s YA book series The Mortal Instruments, the series about demon-hunting teens who are part angel and part human stars Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, a woman who finds out on her 18th birthday that she is not who she thinks she is, but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons.
Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia, Isaiah Mustafa and Harry Shum Jr. also star.
