Long-time TV communications executive Richard Licata has launched Licata & Co.— The Awards Agency, a full service TV awards company with offices in Los Angeles and New York.
Licata & Co. will create and execute award campaigns for broadcast, cable and streaming original programs, talent and craft professionals targeting Emmys, Golden Globes and guild awards including the DGAs, WGAs and PGAs. The company “will work with clients to design and implement customized, bold, year round awards strategies that build brand awareness and create a pathway to the various award podiums,” Licata said.
Licata has been at the forefront of Emmy campaigning since launching his first campaign in 1990 for HBO. He has spearheaded awards efforts for HBO, Showtime, FX, USA, Fox and NBC.

Licata, who has held the top communications/publicity posts at four major networks – HBO, Fox, Showtime and NBC, was most recently EVP, Communications, NBC Entertainment until his exit in fall 2014. He oversaw marketing and publicity for the network and in-house studio Universal Television.
At Showtime, Licata helped launch such series as Nurse Jackie, Weeds, Dexter, The Big C, The Tudors, and Episodes.
Joining Licata & Co are New York-based PR executive Stu Zakim, who previously worked with Licata at Showtime, and Sonnentag Design’s graphic designer Shelley Sonnentag, with whom Licata has worked on award campaigns.
