EXCLUSIVE: Mike Viane has left Regal Entertainment Group as head film buyer after a little more than six months on the job, Deadline has learned from sources. He joined the company in August, taking over for longtime film buyer Ted Cooper, who left Regal to retire. No word yet on who will fill Viane’s vacancy.
Viane’s family has roots in film distribution. His father Chuck Viane worked at Walt Disney Pictures distribution for 25 years, ultimately holding the title of global distribution chief. Mike’s brother, Mark Viane, is co-president of international theatrical marketing and distribution at Paramount. Prior to Regal, Mike worked at Warner Bros. distribution for 25 years, serving in a number of executive roles including SVP Western division and large format.

Among colleagues, Viane has an excellent reputation. “During Mike’s tenure, he had quickly become a well-respected and integral part of our company and will be missed. We wish him all the success in his future endeavors,” Regal Entertainment Group president and COO Greg Dunn told Deadline.
Regal is the leading exhibitor in the U.S., counting 7,361 screens and 572 sites.
