
Rectify alum Clayne Crawford is set as the co-lead opposite Damon Wayans Sr. in Lethal Weapon, Fox’s hourlong pilot based on the hit movie franchise. Crawford will play Martin Riggs — the character played by Mel Gibson in the buddy cop action comedy features — to Wayans’ Roger Murtaugh (originally played by Danny Glover).
In the pilot, written by Matt Miller and directed by McG, when Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Riggs suffers the loss of his wife and baby, he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he is partnered with LAPD Detective Roger Murtaugh, who, having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid stress in his life.
Miller, McG, Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz executive produce the pilot for Warner Bros. TV and Lin Pictures.
In addition to his co-starring role on Rectify, which is wrapping its four-season run on SundanceTV, Crawford did stints on 24, Rogue and The Glades. He will be seen in Legendary Pictures’ supernatural thriller Spectral. Crawford is repped by APA.
