Sally Hawkins is set to star in Fox Searchlight’s untitled Cold War drama from writer-director-producer Guillermo Del Toro, and Octavia Spencer is in talks to join the cast. It’s described as a mysterious and magical other-worldly love story set in 1963 America. J.Miles Dale will produce with Del Toro. Guillermo’s reps are WME, Exile Entertainment and George Hayum at Hirsch Wallerstein.
Hawkins, an Oscar nominee for Blue Jasmine, most recently appeared in Paddington and Godzilla and has wrapped the lead role in indie drama Maudie, opposite Ethan Hawke. The Help Oscar winner Spencer toplined Fox drama series Red Band Society and has a voice role in Zootopia. She’ll compete with that pic this weekend in The Divergent Series: Allegiant.

Meanwhile,Crimson Peak and Pacific Rim filmmaker Del Toro is developing and might direct Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark for CBS Films, based on the book trilogy by Alvin Schwartz.
