After coming out of nowhere in 2014 to gross $62.6M on a budget of only about $2M, the faith-based film God’s Not Dead was a bona fide hit and extremely profitable. Can lightning strike twice? Here’s the new trailer for God’s Not Dead 2, starring Melissa Joan Hart as a Christian teacher who is forced before a judge for answering a question about Jesus in the classroom. With the principal and superintendent joining forces with a zealous civil liberties group, she faces an epic court case that could cost her a career she loves and expel God from the classroom.
The sequel also stars Ernie Hudson, Jesse Metcalfe, Pure Flix Entertainment CEO David A.R. White, Hayley Orrantia, Sadie Robertson, Robin Givens, Maria Canals-Barrera, Ray Wise and the late Fred Thompson in one of his final film appearances. Pat Boone also has a cameo. The film was directed by Harold Cronk, who also helmed the first installment. Pure Flix will open God’s Not Dead 2 on April 1. Take a look at the trailer and tell us what you think.
