StudioCanal has upped Elizabeth Trotman to become chief exec of its Australia and New Zealand operations. She will take over from Robert Slaviero, who is now leaving the company. Trotman, who was previously general manager of sales and marketing, will start in the new role March 14.
Driven by strong results in Great Britain and Germany, StudioCanal is now accelerating its growth in Australia and New Zealand where the company set up operations nearly four years ago by purchasing Hoyts Distribution. “Elizabeth has a perfect understanding of StudioCanal’s local activities and teams and we have faith in her marketing experience and expertise, as well as her international profile, to help the studio cross a new threshold in this part of the world,” said StudioCanal distribution chief Rodolphe Buet. “In addition to strengthening our local distribution activities, she will be responsible for initiating and developing local film production, which is strategic for us as a complement to our international productions policy.”
Trotman has previously worked at The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. Entertainment and BBC Worldwide before joining Hoyts Distribution in 2002 where she has been the General Manager of Sales and Marketing since 2012. Robert Slaviero, previously head of Hoyts, oversaw the transition process of the company under StudioCanal ownership.
StudioCanal already boasts strong relationships with a number of Australian filmmakers, notably Justin Kurzel, who directed Macbeth and is set to direct a Mumbai siege project for the Euro film giant.
