EXCLUSIVE: Stephen Moyer just exited The Tribes Of Palos Verdes due to a scheduling conflict. The Firm is putting together the film, with Jennifer Garner starring and Robbie Brenner producing. They’ll look to recast the male lead right away.

The drama is based on the Joy Nicholson YA novel set in the affluent Los Angeles suburb of Palos Verdes, centering on two teenagers who move to the beach community with their parents as their mother teeters on the brink of a nervous breakdown and their father becomes a surgeon to the stars. Garner plays the mom and True Blood‘s Moyer was going to play the father. Maika Monroe plays the daughter, Medina, who turns to surfing as an escape, and Cody Fern (War Horse) is playing her brother Jim. Elisabeth Rohm, Goran Visnjic, Milo Gibson, Noah Silver, Joely Fisher and Stevie Lynn Jones are also aboard.

Emmett and Brendan Malloy are directing Karen Coner’s script for the pic. Brenner and Croner are producing, with The Firm’s Jeff Kwatinetz and Kevin McKeon executive producing.
