We knew that Outlander was set to return in April, and now we have a date. Starz has annnounced that the 13-episode sophomore season of its hit original series will premiere at 9 PM Saturday, April 9.
In addition, the premium cabler released a first look at its teaser art (see above) featuring Outlander couple Claire Randall Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) on the steps of Versailles. Instead of swords and guns, they’re armed with political savvy and the finest 1700s Parisian fashion as they embark on their new mission: infiltrating the French aristocracy and rewriting history. The new image gives viewers a taste of what’s to come in the next chapter – Old World lavishness mixed with a sense of New World urgency. The teaser art was shot on location in Scotland by photographer Jason Bell.
Based on the second of eight books in Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling Outlander series, Dragonfly in Amber, the second installment begins as Claire and Jamie arrive in France, hellbent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart, and stopping the battle of Culloden.
Ronald D. Moore, Jim Kohlberg, Andy Harries, Maril Davis, Ira Steven Behr, Toni Graphia and Anne Kenney serve as executive producers. Outlander is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & Supply Company and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television.
