Steve Kazee has been cast as the male lead opposite Sarah Shahi in Drew, CBS’ drama pilot based on the Nancy Drew character from the classic mystery book series.
Written by Joan Rater and Tony Phelan and directed by James Strong, Drew is described as a contemporary take on the character from the books, with Nancy, now in her 30s, working as a detective for the NYPD where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world.
Kazee will play Ned, an investigative reporter for the New York Times and Nancy’s former boyfriend.
Kazee won both a Tony (leading actor in a musical) and Grammy (best musical theater album) for his performance in Broadway’s Once. His other Broadway credits include Monty Python’s Spamalot (Sir Lancelot), To Be Or Not To Be, Edward Albee’s Seascape and The Subject Was Roses. He recently appeared on TNT’Legends and Showtime’s Shameless and will next be seen recurring on ABC’s Nashville. Kazee is repped by ICM Partners and D2 Management.
