UPDATE with final numbers: 20th Century Fox just made it official that Deadpool owns the top Tuesday record in February with a $11.559 million take. That beats the previous record owned by the Channing Tatum title The Vow, which made $11.555M on Valentine’s Day 2012. It’s not often you see a movie in February post double-digit grosses outside of a holiday, and on a weekday. Cume to date for Deadpool through five days is $163.75M. The film’s opening came in ahead of its Monday morning estimates with a four-day of $152.19M and a three-day of $132.4M. All are records for an R-rated opening, a February release and for 20th Century Fox.
Tuesday marks Deadpool‘s fifth daily B.O. record in February after charting the highest opening day of $47.3M, second highest with Sunday grossing $42.59M, third-highest day with $42.5M on Saturday, and the highest Monday ever with $19.76M.
For an idea of Deadpool‘s power over the entire box office, the second-highest-grossing movie Monday was DreamWorks Animation/Fox’s Kung Fu Panda 3, which made $1.96M, followed by New Line/MGM/Warner Bros.’ How To Be Single in third with $1.4M and Paramount’s Zoolander 2 in fourth with $980K.
