Development, production, finance and distribution consortium AMBI Group has inked a multi-year, multi-picture joint venture partnership with Dubai-based group Barajoun Entertainment. The two companies co-finance and co-produce a slate of family-centric CGI animated films as well as live-action features based on popular IP.
AMBI and Barajoun have committed to making five feature films, with individual budgets in the $50 million range, over the next five years. The films will be fully financed by AMBI and Barajoun. The animation and production work will be co-developed and produced between Barajoun’s cutting edge Dubai studios and AMBI’s AIC Studios in Toronto, Canada.
AMBI Distribution, the worldwide sales arm of the AMBI Group, will oversee worldwide distribution for the new slate of films. Barajoun’s recently completed CG-animated feature Bilal will also be added the AMBI Distribution slate and presented to worldwide distributors at the European Film Market in Berlin this week.
AMBI has scaled up its animation operations over the last year with the launch of its AIC Studios in Toronto and the greenlighting of two new 3D CGI animated films – Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad featuring Alec Baldwin, John Cleese, James Franco, Anjelica Huston, Heidi Klum and Omar Sy, and Groove Tails starring Jamie Foxx.
