Amazon Studios has made another Sundance Film Festival acquisition, sealing a deal for U.S. theatrical and streaming rights for Todd Solondz’s comedy Wiener-Dog. The film bowed Friday at the Eccles Theatre in the Premieres section of the fest. Amazon still is looking for a partner to co-release.
The pic tells tells several stories featuring people who find their life inspired or changed by a dachshund who seems to be spreading a certain kind of comfort and joy.
Amazon has been a big player in the Sundance deal game this year, with a $10M buy for Manchester By The Sea and partnering with Roadside Attractions on distributing Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship.
