#Breewatch is officially over. After an extensive search, Starz’s Outlander has cast Sophie Skelton (Foyle’s War) as Brianna, the daughter of lead characters Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan).
Brianna is a striking, redheaded young lady, strong-minded and intelligent beyond her years (traits inherited from both her mother and father), with a distinctly scholastic mind-set and a healthy dose of Fraser stubbornness. Skelton joins previously announced Richard Rankin who will play Roger Wakefield, the adult version of Reverend Wakefield’s son.
Based on Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling books adapted by Ronald D. Moore, Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall (Balfe), a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she immediately is thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. Book Two begins as Claire and Jamie arrive in France, hell-bent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart, and stopping the battle of Culloden. With the help of his cousin Jared, a local wine merchant, Jamie and Claire are thrown into the lavish world of French society, where intrigue and parties are abundant, but political gain proves far less fruitful. Altering the course of history presents challenges that begin to weigh on the very fabric of their relationship. However, armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead, Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising, and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it. The second installment premieres in April on Starz. Sony Pictures TV is the studio.
