Just ahead of the international bow of its Kung Fu Panda 3, Oriental DreamWorks has tapped Melissa Cobb as Head of Studio and Chief Creative Officer. She has served as a producer on all three films in the Kung Fu Panda franchise.
Starting on February 1, Cobb will oversee the animation studio’s creative direction and animated feature film production efforts. She will be based at the company’s Shanghai offices.
Cobb has continued to oversee all aspects of the Kung Fu Panda franchise, which started in 2008 and continued with the 2011 sequel. She has executive produced the short films KFP: Secrets of the Furious Five, KFP: Secrets of the Masters and Kung Fu Panda Holiday as well as Nickelodeon’s series Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. She began her entertainment career producing theatrical projects and later held senior executive and production roles at Walt Disney Pictures, 20th Century Fox and VH1.
