The Hollywood Foreign Press Association went classical tonight at the 73rd annual Golden Globes in awarding Mozart In The Jungle as Best Television Series – Musical Or Comedy. Winning its first Golden Globe, the Amazon series about the backstage and onstage shenanigans of an NYC orchestra is also up tonight for a Best Performance award for its lead Gael Garcia Bernal.

“We are so lucky that we get to do a show that honors musicians,” said director Paul Weitz in accepting the award onstage with the cast at the Beverly Hilton.

A long shot to win the Golden Globe, the series developed by Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman, and Alex Timbers saw all 10 episodes of its first season debut on December 23, 2014. Season 2 of Mozart In The Jungle, which also co-stars Malcolm McDowell, Bernadette Peters and others, premiered on December 30.
