Matt SteinMatt Stein has been named SVP Marketing for both Animal Planet and Science Channel. Beginning February 1, he will be responsible for creating and executing the vision for Animal Planet and Science Channel branding across all platforms including on-air campaigns, print campaigns, social networking and domestic distribution of creative content.

Rich Ross, Group President of Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Science Channel, making this morning’s announcement, described Stein as a guy who “takes risks and brings an exciting new perspective to our brands.”

Stein previously served as SVP Marketing, Promotion & Creative Services for BBC America, where he was responsible for the animal-planet-logo__120322141108-150x150branding, design, editorial, and consumer facing positioning of the network, along with all on and off channel creative and social media. During his tenure, he developed and executed cross-platform marketing and advertising strategies for both the channel brand and original content, including the network’s launches of series Orphan Black, Doctor Who, and Top Gear, among others.

Earlier, Stein was with Spike TV where he served as Editorial Director, On-Air Creative, where he conceived, wrote and Science_channel Logooversaw internal and third-party production of branding and image spots as well as series-launch campaigns. Additionally, he wrote for multiple award shows and specials on the network including Guys Choice, Scream Awards, and The Video Game Awards. Before joining Spike TV, Stein worked as a writer-producer at VH1 and Nick at Nite.
