Universal has dropped a new trailer (above) for Hail, Caesar!, the latest from Joel and Ethan Coen. The ensemble comedy bows February 5 domestically and will open the Berlin Film Festival the following week out of competition. Set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age, the story centers on Capitol Studios fixer Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin), who’s got his hands full in the day-in-the-life tale that includes the kidnapping of mega-star Baird Whitlock (George Clooney). Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill and Frances McDormand also star.
While there are glimpses of everyone in the clip above, it largely focuses on Fiennes’ Laurence Lorenz, an ascot-sporting director growing increasingly frustrated with his star (Ehrenreich), whose country bumpkin elocution doesn’t fit the scene.
The Coens produce Hail, Caesar! under their Mike Zoss Productions banner alongside Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. Universal begins international rollout on February 17.
